The Dallas Cowboys acquire Jon Kitna for Anthony Henry

The Cowboys have acquired 36-year old quarterback Jon Kitna from the Lions for 32-year old cornerback Anthony Henry.  Kitna played in 4 games for the Lions last season and he completed 68 of 120 passes (56.7%) for 758 yards with 5 TD passes and 5 interceptions (72.2 QB Rating).  He also carried the football 6 times for 34 yards (5.7 ypc) last season.  Kitna’s season was ended after four games last year because of a back injury but he claims to be healthy now.  Kitna should be a huge upgrade over Brad Johnson as Tony Romo’s backup in 2009.  Kitna has now played in 128 games in his NFL career and he has completed 2,462 of 4,114 (59.8%) passes for 27,293 yards with 152 TD passes and 151 interceptions (76.6 QB Rating).  Kitna has also carried the football 279 times for 811 yards (2.9 ypc) with 10 TD runs in his career.

The Cowboys might miss the 32-year old Anthony Henry who made a lot of big plays in his four seasons in Dallas.  Henry played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he made 50 tackles, defensed 5 passes, had 2 sacks, forced 1 fumble and he intercepted 1 pass.  Henry played in 57 games in his career with the Cowboys and in those games he made 215 tackles, defensed 54 passes, had 2 sacks, forced 2 fumbles and he intercepted 12 passes (2 of which he returned for TDs).

The Dallas Cowboys acquire guard Montrae Holland from the Broncos

The Cowboys have acquired guard Montrae Holland from the Broncos for a 5th round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.  The 28-year old Holland is a huge guy at 6′2″, 322 pounds and he will likely bump Joe Berger from the starting job at left guard until Kyle Kosier is ready to return.  Holland played in 16 games (all starts) with the Broncos last season and he played pretty well for them.  He has now played 5 seasons in the NFL covering 68 games, 46 of which he started.  A fifth round pick for a starting lineman equals a good deal for the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys trade TE Anthony Fasano and LB Ayin Ayodele to the Dolphins for a 4th round pick

The Dolphins essentially recouped the pick that they sent to the Dolphins for Fasano and Ayodele.  Fasano played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he caught 14 passes for 143 yards (10.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Ayodele played in all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and he made 57 tackles and defensed 4 passes.  This was another decent move for the Cowboys who didn’t have big plans for either of the players that they traded to Miami.

The Dallas Cowboys acquire CB/KR Adam “Pac Man” Jones from the Titans

The Cowboys have acquired CB/KR Adam “Pac Man” Jones from the Titans for a 4th round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.  The Titans will also get a 2009 Draft Pick if Jones is reinstated and plays this season.  If Jones stays suspended the Titans will give the Cowboys a 4th round pick in 2009.  Jones didn’t play last season as he was suspended by the NFL for off field conduct.  Jones is an electric player and that can’t be disputed.  Jones has played in 30 games (28 starts) in his NFL career to date and he has made 115 tackles, has 1 sack, has defensed 18 passes and he has 4 interceptions including one that he returned for a TD.  Jones has also returned 63 kickoffs for 1,648 yards (26.2 avg) and 63 punts for 712 yards (11.3 avg) with 4 TD returns.  This was a nice low risk/high reward gamble for the Cowboys.
