The Cowboys will be sending 29-year old OLB DeMarcus Ware and 30-year old DT Jay Ratliff to the Pro Bowl.  Ware has played in 15 games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has 53 tackles, 18 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defensed.  Ware has been a unstoppable force this year for the Cowboys as he appears to be living in opposing backfields.  Jay Ratliff has played in 15 games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has 35 tackles, 2 sacks, 6 tackles for a loss, 1 fumble recovery and 2 passes defensed.

The Dallas Cowboys have placed 39-year old QB Jon Kitna on the Injured Reserve List, ending his season due to a bad back.  Kitna played in 3 games for the Cowboys this year and he completed 6 of 10 passes (60%) for 87 yards with 1 TD passes and 2 INTs (82.1 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 3 times for -2 yards (-0.7 ypc) this year.  Kitna has played in 13 games (9 starts) in his first three years with the Cowboys and he has completed 215 of 328 passes (65.5%) for 2,452 yards with 17 TD passes and 14 INTs (87.3 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 34 times for 145 yards (4.3 ypc) with 1 TD run with the Cowboys.  It will be up to 26-year old Stephen McGee to back up Tony Romo the rest of this year.  McGee has played in 2 games (1 start) in his career for the Cowboys and he has completed 22 of 44 passes (50%) for 238 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs (81.4 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 13 times for 74 yards (5.7 ypc) for the Cowboys.  McGee played well last year for the Cowboys when pressed into service, so they are comfortable with him as the backup QB moving forward.

The Dallas Cowboys lose DeMarco Murray for the rest of the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Cowboys Headlines,Front Page,General Cowboys Talk,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Monday 12 December 2011 at 10:55 pm

The Dallas Cowboys have lost 23-year old rookie RB DeMarco Murray for the rest of the year after breaking his right ankle last night against the Giants.  Murray played in 13 games for the Cowboys this year and he carried the ball 164 times for 897 yards (5.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Murray also caught 26 passes for 183 yards (7.0 avg) for the Cowboys this year.  Murray was very impressive this year and it’s a shame to see his season end this way.  The Cowboys will give the starting RB job back to 24-year old Felix Jones.  Jones has played in 9 games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has carried the ball 90 times for 413 yards (4.6 ypc) with 1 TD run.  He has also caught 23 passes for 151 yards (6.6 avg) so far this year.  Jones will do a good job as the main back the rest of this season for the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys waive punter Chris Jones

Blogged under Bloglockers,Cowboys Headlines,Front Page,General Cowboys Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 16 November 2011 at 8:40 pm

The Cowboys have waived 22-year old punter Chris Jones.  Jones played in 1 game for the Cowboys and he punted the ball 4 times for 172 yards (43.0 avg).  He pinned the opposing team inside their own 20-yard line twice and he didn’t have any touchbacks.  Jones’ release likely means that 32-year old Mat McBriar is ready to return to action.  McBriar has played in 8 games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has punted the ball 26 times for 1,263 yards (48.6 avg).  He also has 3 touchbacks (11.5%) and he has placed the ball inside the opposing 20-yard line 9 times (34.6%) so far this year.  Jones did a good job for the Cowboys, but McBriar will improve the punting.

The Dallas Cowboys lose WR Miles Austin for the next 2-4 weeks

Blogged under Bloglockers,Cowboys Headlines,Front Page,General Cowboys Talk,Injury Reports,Needs to Step Up by admin on Tuesday 8 November 2011 at 5:19 pm

The Cowboys will be without starting WR Miles Austin for the next 2-4 weeks due to a hamstring injury.  Austin has played in six games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has caught 28 passes for 403 yards (14.4 avg) with 4 TD grabs.  Laurent Robinson will be counted on to start and pick up the slack while Austin is out of action.  Robinson has played in six games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has caught 24 passes for 368 yards (15.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  The bigger problem for the Cowboys will be replacing Robinson in his role as the #3 WR.

The Cowboys have lost 26-year old, starting QB Mike Jenkins for the next 3-4 weeks due to a right hamstring strain.  Jenkins has played in 7 games for the Cowboys this year and he has 18 tackles, 7 passes defensed and 1 interception.  He will be replaced in the starting lineup by 24-year old Orlando Scandrick.  Scandrick has played in 4 games for the Cowboys so far this year and he has 13 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 tackle for a loss.  The Cowboys better hope that Jenkins is a quick healer.

Dallas Cowboys’ LB Sean Lee is going to try to play through pain the rest of the year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Cowboys Headlines,Front Page,General Cowboys Talk,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 1 November 2011 at 8:57 pm

25-year old inside linebacker Sean Lee is going to try to play the rest of the season with the pain of a dislocated left wrist.  If he decides to have surgery on it, his season is over.  Lee has played in all 7 games for the Cowboys this year and he has 51 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 passes defensed and 3 interceptions.  Lee has now played in 21 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 83 tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 7 passes defensed and 5 interceptions (1 returned for a TD).  The Cowboys better hope that Lee can keep playing, because he’s a big time playmaker.

UPDATE:  (11/3/2011) – Lee is out for this Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.  Doctors are pushing for him to have surgery.  Stay tuned.

The Dallas Cowboys waive RB Tashard Choice

Blogged under Bloglockers,Cowboys Headlines,Front Page,General Cowboys Talk,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 30 October 2011 at 12:47 pm

The Cowboys have waived 26-year old RB Tashard Choice.  Choice played in 6 games for the Cowboys this year and he carried the ball 28 times for 75 yards (2.7 ypc).  He also caught 11 passes for 71 yards (6.5 avg) this year for the Cowboys.  Choice played in 54 games in his four years with the Cowboys and he carried the ball 250 times for 1,139 yards rushing (4.6 ypc) with 8 TD grabs.  He also caught 64 passes for 497 yards (7.8 avg) for the Cowboys.  The emergence of DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner lead to Choice’s release.  Some team is definitely going to claim him off waivers and give him more of  a chance to play than the Cowboys did.

UPDATE:  (11/1/2011) – Tashard Choice has been claimed off waivers by the rival Washington Redskins.

The Dallas Cowboys waive rookie WR Dwayne Harris

Blogged under Bloglockers,Cowboys Headlines,Front Page,General Cowboys Talk,Leaving Town,The Draft Report by admin on Tuesday 18 October 2011 at 11:45 pm

The Cowboys have waived 24-year old rookie WR Dwayne Harris.  Harris played in five games for the Cowboys but he didn’t catch any passes.  Harris did return 11 punts for 73 yards (6.6 avg) and 3 kickoffs for 74 yards (24.7 avg) for the Cowboys.  He had a very solid pre-season for the Cowboys, but he hasn’t produced for them in the real games.  This is no big loss for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys have re-signed 31-year old OG Montrae Holland.  Holland played in 14 games (2 starts) for the Cowboys last year.  He has now played in 21 games (4 starts) in his first three years with the Cowboys.  He might just step right into rookie Bill Nagy’s old job at guard this weekend.
