1. (26) Anthony Spencer, LB/DE
The Cowboys traded back into the first round with the enemy Philadelphia Eagles to select Anthony Spencer out of Purdue. Spencer was awesome last season for the Purdue Boilermakers as a DE as he made an amazing 26.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and he had 10.5 sacks! It’s possible that the Cowboys are looking at Spencer as an outside linebacker, but he can handle DE also. He stands at 6’3″, 261 pounds and he runs a 4.7 40 so he might be able to handle linebacker for the Cowboys. In 47 games (37 starts) at Purdue, Spencer had 155 tackles, 43 tackles for loss, 21 sacks, has batted down 13 passes, forced 11 fumbles and recovered 2 fumbles. The Philadelphia Eagles will wish they never made this trade when Spencer is hitting Donovan McNabb repeatedly in his back.
