Cowboys thrash the Bucs 38-10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Friday 24 November 2006 at 10:40 am

The Cowboys absolutely dominated the Bucs on Thanksgiving.  Tony Romo had a fantastic game, completing 22 of 29 passes for 306 yards and 5 TDs!  Marion Barber was solid with 16 carries for 83 yards (5.2 ypc) and he caught 2 passes, both TDs!  julius Jones carried the ball 11 times for 40 yards (3.6 ypc).  Terrell Owens had a big game with 8 catches for 107 yards and a TD.  Terry Glenn was also outstanding with 4 receptions for 89 yards and 2 TDs.  Patrick Crayton pitched in with 4 catches for 68 yards.

The Cowboys defense played good all day long.  They allowed the Bucs to rush for 101 yards on 24 carries (4.2 ypc).  The Bucs only completed 10 of 20 passes for 110 net yards passing, and the Cowboys picked off two passes.

The Cowboys did what you’re supposed to do to pathetic teams……totally destroy them.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have to feel good about winning their game last Sunday against the Redskins.  The Cowboys have won 3 of their last 4 games and are surging behind Tony Romo.

The Buccaneers will try to run the football against the Cowboys.  The Bucs ran the ball last week and they need to run well again to keep the Cowboys offense on the sideline and keep the clock running.  Cadillac Williams (619 yards rushing) will be the main weapon the Bucs use against the Cowboys defense which only allows 85.7 yards rushing and 3.6 yards per carry this season.  Look for Bruce Gradkowski to throw a few deep passes to try to take advantage of the safeties of the Cowboys, who are a little slow in helping CBs cover deep passes.  Joey Galloway (38 rec, 626 yards) will be the main threat in the passing game for the Bucs as he returns to Dallas where he started his career.

The Cowboys will look to run the ball early and then have some fun at the expense of the Bucs secondary.  Julius Jones (813 yards rushing) and Marion Barber (409 yards rushing) should have little trouble finding running room against a Bucs defense that allows 121.3 yards rushing and 4.1 yards per carry.  The Cowboys will no doubt take shots deep, early and often against the Bucs defense which is allowing 209.9 yards passing per game.  Terrell Owens (53 rec, 724 yards) and Terry Glenn (42 rec, 534 yards) could have huge games on Turkey Day.

I like the Cowboys big on Turkey Day.

Cowboys deal Colts first loss 21-14

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Tuesday 21 November 2006 at 1:05 am

The Cowboys played a solid game on offense, but a great game on defense.  LB Kevin Burnett returned an interception 39 yards for a TD in the third quarter to start the comeback for the Cowboys.  Akin Ayodele had 8 tackles to lead the Cowboys.  Bradie James had 7 tackles and a fumble recovery.  DE Jay Ratliff only had one tackle, but he also had a sack and recovered a fumble.  The Cowboys only allowed the Colts to rush for 88 yards on 23 carries (3.8 ypc).  The Colts completed 20 of 39 passes for 247 net yards passing.

Tony Romo had a solid game completing 19 of 23 passes for 226 yards and a INT.  Julius Jones carried the ball 22 times for 79 yards (3.6 ypc) and caught 3 passes for 25 yards.  Marion Barber carried the ball 9 times for 35 yards (3.9 ypc) and 2 TDs.  Terry Glenn had a solid game with 6 rec, 78 yards).  Terrell Owens added 4 receptions for 70 yards.

The Cowboys looked great in beating the Colts and are now tied with the Giants at 6-4 at the top of the AFC East.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Indianapolis Colts

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Thursday 16 November 2006 at 5:39 pm

The Colts are now 9-0, but they’ve looked very vulnerable as of late.  The Cowboys are 2-1 with Tony Romo as the QB, and they should be 3-0.  The team seems to be playing with more confidence with Romo.

Look for the Colts to come out throwing against the Cowboys.  The Cowboys safeties are having a hard time in pass protection, so look for the tight-ends (Dallas Clark & Ben Utecht) to have a good game for the Colts.  Also look for Reggie Wayne to be able to get deep against the Colts, because the safeties are slow help out on the deep patterns.  Marvin Harrison will also get his yards too.  If the Colts get the lead, look for them to run Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes to keep their poor defense off of the field.

The Cowboys should be able to run at will against the Colts on Sunday.  The Colts allow 159.3 yards rushing and 5.1 yards rushing per carry, so look for Julius Jones (734 yards rushing) and Marion Barber (374 yards rushing) to have huge games.  Look for the Cowboys to take a few deep shots to Terrell Owens to loosen up the defense and a few short passes to Jason Witten.  The Cowboys will try to grind this game out on the ground and keep the Colts offense off of the field.

I have a feeling that the Cowboys are going to be ball hogs in this game, and the Cowboys are going to beat the Colts.

Dallas Cowboys lose starting linebacker for the season

Starting OLB Greg Ellis will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.  Look for Al Singleton, Kevin Burnett and Bobby Carpenter to get increased playing time for the Cowboys.

Cowboys punish the Cardinals 27-10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Monday 13 November 2006 at 12:17 am

The Cowboys played a solid game all the way around on Sunday.  Tony Romo looked good again, completing 20 of 29 passes for 308 yards and 2 TDs.  Julius Jones carried the ball 15 times for 45 yards (3.0 ypc).  Marion Barber had a good game with 14 carries for 65 yards (4.6 ypc) and a TD.  Patrick Crayton had a great game with 5 catches for 104 yards and a TD.  Terrell Owens caught 5 passes for 96 yards and a TD.  Jason Witten (5 rec, 58 yards) and Sam Hurd (4 rec, 42 yards) each pitched in on offense.

The Cowboys defense played a good game.  The Cowboys held the Cardinals to 86 yards rushing on 21 carries (4.1 ypc).  The Cards completed 20 of 38 passes for 209 net yards passing.

The Cowboys rebounded well from their shocking defeat last week, and played a solid all-around game against the Cards.

Terry Glenn out for Sunday

Terry Glenn will miss the game due to injury.  Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd will take his snaps.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Friday 10 November 2006 at 8:41 pm

The Dallas Cowboys are 4-4 and coming off of a shocking last second loss to their nemesis, the Redskins.  The Cardinals are on a 7 game losing streak and look like the worst team in the NFL.

The Cowboys should be able to do whatever they want on offense as the Cardinals can’t stop the run (124.4 yards per game) OR the pass (219.4 yards per game).  The Tuna will probably try to get the running game going first with Julius Jones (689 yards rushing) and Marion Barber (309 yards rushing).  After the running game is established Tony Romo will get his shot at the Cardinals secondary.  Look for Terrell Owens and Jason Witten to have huge games on Sunday.

The Cardinals would like to get Edgerrin James (516 yards rushing) going, but the Cowboys have a tough run defense (85.4 yards per game).  The Cards offensive line will need to block well for Matt Leinart to give him a chance to get the ball to the Cardinals play-makers.  Anquan Boldin (48 rec, 608 yards) should benefit from single coverage for the first time in weeks because Larry Fitzgerald is back.  The Cowboys safeties have been late in helping the corners deep, so look for Leinart to try to expose that.

The Cowboys should win this game easy, but the Bears thought they would too and wound up in a dog fight.

Cowboys QBs

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Wednesday 8 November 2006 at 10:58 am

Tony Romo has replaced Drew Bledsoe and the offense has looked better as a result.  Romo can make some plays with his legs which is important behind an offensive line that doesn’t pass-block well.  Romo has completed 64.6% of his passes so far for 816 yards with 6 TDs and 4 INTs.  Romo has a QB rating of 93.7 and looks like he will keep the job for awhile as long as he is careful with the football.

Drew Bledsoe didn’t play well when he was the starter this season.  Bledsoe looked a little nervous in the pocket due to the 16 sacks he endured.  He often rushed his passes and tried to fit the ball in tight spots, and the results weren’t pretty.  Bledsoe completed 53.3% of his passes for 1,164 yards with 7 TDs and 8 INTs.  Bledsoe’s QB rating is only 69.2, which is way below average.  Bledsoe still has the arm to make plays when given time to throw in the pocket.  Bledsoe probably won’t see the field unless Romo is injured.
