Current Cowboys odds

The over/under for the Cowboys is 9 1/2 wins.  The Cowboys are 8-1 to win the Super Bowl and 19-5 to win the NFC.

My suggestion here is to bet the over as I think the Cowboys are the class of the NFC East.  I look for the Cowboys to be 11-5 this season, and to make a run at the Super Bowl.

Cowboys look dominant in 17-7 win over 49ers

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Sunday 27 August 2006 at 11:03 am

The score doesn’t reflect the dominant performance of the Cowboys on Saturday night.  The Cowboys held possession of the ball on offense for 38:37 and rolled up 489 total yards (189 rushing, 300 passing).  Drew Bledsoe looked like a surgeon in the pocket.  Bledsoe completed 12 of 17 passes (70.6%) for 200 yards and a TD.  Tony Romo completed 9 of 14 passes for 111 yards and an interception.

Julius Jones carried the ball 15 times for 56 yards (3.7 ypc).  Marion Barber had a good game rushing for 49 yards on 9 carries (5.4 ypc) and a TD.  Tyson Thompson also ran well carrying the ball 11 times for 65 yards (5.9 ypc).

Young WR Jamaica Rector put himself in position to make the Cowboys final roster after catching 7 passes for 80 yards (11.4 avg) on Saturday.  Terry Glenn caught 4 passes for 98 yards (24.5 avg).

The defense looked decent on defense.  The Niners did average 5.0 yards per carry, but only had 90 yards rushing.  The Cowboys allowed the Niners to complete 63.2% of their passes but for only 107 net yards passing.

Bledsoe and Romo looking great

The whole notion of Tony Romo beating out Drew Bledsoe is ridiculous.  Bill Parcells has never operated that way, and Bledsoe is his boy from the New England days.  Plus, Tony Romo has never played a down in a real NFL game.  Romo has opened some eyes with his stellar pre-season to date.  Romo has completed 25 of 33 passes (75.8%) for 373 yards and 2 TDs.  Romo’s QB rating is an outstanding 132.5.

Drew Bledsoe looked awesome is his first action last week.  Bledsoe completed 12 of 16 passes (75.0%) for 156 yards and 2 TDs, for a QB rating of 144.8.  Bledsoe would have to get hurt or play awful for Romo to get a shot to play in the regular season.

Drew Henson cut loose by Cowboys

Drew Henson is now the opposite of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders.  He’s a player that has failed miserably in two professional sports.  He can’t hit a curveball or complete a pass.  Henson played in 7 games for the Cowboys (1 start) and completed 10 of 18 passes (55.6%) for a whopping 78 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Henson finished his Cowboy career with a 61.8 career rating.

Back-up linebacker traded to Saints

Scott Shanle was traded to the Saints for a conditional 2007 draft pick.  The pick could wind up being a decent one because Shanle is expected to start for the Saints.
